Barwon Heads
A single storey house in Barwon Heads, renovated with a rear addition, completed in 2024 for a young and growing family. The original had been badly altered over the years, with a dark grey blue rendered exterior and moss covered green tiles, and JAK Architecture's move was to tuck the new work beneath the existing eaves rather than build over or beyond them. A spotted gum deck runs off a new rear sunroom, and the birches it faces were already on the site; the extension was worked around them.
The landscaping was done by the clients and their parents rather than a firm. Bond Construction Co built it, and JAK publishes the project as Wood; the architecture press runs it as Wood House.
JAK Architecture
JAK Architecture is a studio working from Clifton Hill in Melbourne and Point Lonsdale on the Bellarine Peninsula, describing its work as considered, sustainable and spirited buildings. Sylvie Goetz is its design lead; the practice names no director on its site.
