Vores Sted (Our Place)
Tønder, Denmark
One of 150 small gathering places that Realdania is giving free to community groups across Denmark for its 25th anniversary, under the name Vores Sted, which means Our Place. This one was the first of them to open: it went up on the lawn of the Leos care home in the centre of Tønder in April 2025 for the town's youth and culture council, a group of ten to fifteen young people. It is 38 square metres of the type called Udestuen, the garden room, with a frame of timber reclaimed from demolished buildings, discarded Dinesen floorboards for the facade, doors, windows and floor, a roof of fibre cement sheets salvaged from demolished mink farms, and screw foundations instead of concrete.
Cobe drew the four pavilion types together with five other practices for Realdania, and publishes the Tønder building simply as a pavilion in Tønder; JDH-Byg of Aarhus built it. The photographs are Francisco Tirado's, who led photography at Cobe until 2025.
Cobe
Cobe is a Copenhagen practice founded in 2006 by Dan Stubbergaard, working from Nordhavn across cities, landscapes and buildings. Stubbergaard still fronts it and is Professor in Practice of Urban Design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
