Victorian Bespoke
RHS Garden, Hyde Hall
Hartley Botanic's octagonal glasshouse at the centre of the Global Growth Vegetable Garden at RHS Hyde Hall in Essex, a bespoke fourteen metre span take on its Victorian range with a three metre roof lantern, finished in the maker's own Verona Stone colour. The RHS commissioned it in 2017 as the centrepiece of its new edible garden, a fifty metre circle of raised beds quartered by continent, everything in it edible, designed by Xa Tollemache and sponsored by Witan Investment Trust.
The garden opened in summer 2017, its curved beds built from oak sleepers and its paths through the middle laid in Italian porphyry, growing more than five hundred different vegetables and fruits. Victorian Bespoke is the maker's model line; its product pages call this one the new RHS Hyde Hall Glasshouse.
Hartley Botanic
Hartley Botanic is an English glasshouse and greenhouse maker established in 1938, based at Greenfield in Oldham, building aluminium framed glasshouses from its Victorian range through to fully bespoke commissions.
