A small back garden with stone steppers set in green groundcover, a lawn, large leaved plants and a wall of climbers, under a dark steel gable frame, looking to a weatherboard house with folding glass doors open to a dining room.

SEDDON

Melbourne

A compact back garden in Seddon in Melbourne's inner west, designed and built by Normark Landscapes: three open steel gables lend height between the tall brick walls of the neighbours, over corten edged steps, a wall of climbers and big leaved planting around a small lawn.

It won Landscape Design Under 100 Square Metres at Landscaping Victoria's 2021 industry awards, whose judges called it a lovely garden with a definite wow factor delivered in a compact space. The house is a period weatherboard cottage with a modern rear extension; the black gable ended garden studio at the far end has its shape echoed by the steel frames over the garden.

Normark Landscapes

Normark Landscapes is a Victorian landscape construction business at Tullamarine, founded in 1977 by brothers Dean and Mark Anderson, its name a merger of theirs, and run today by directors Danny Ferns, James Anderson and Blake Anderson. It builds complex architectural landscapes and pools across high end residential and commercial work.
