Daylesford
Room and Board is Lynda Gardener's boutique stay in Daylesford; Tim Pilgrim designed its garden, his second collaboration with Gardener, to a brief of an immersive and romantic feel in a small space, contemporary enough for the architecture and soft enough for the country town, answered with perennial planting in a muted palette.
The barn at the end of the path is Gardener's first design from the ground up, built on what had been a disused driveway strip and open to guests by the end of 2019, with salvaged schoolhouse windows and custom made barn doors; the planting has grown in around it. Elsewhere in the garden a path leads to a custom glass house with a day bed among pots and plants.
Tim Pilgrim Gardens
Tim Pilgrim is a garden designer working from his studio in Central Victoria, formally trained in horticulture, with more than fifteen years in gardens including time at the Garden of St Erth, Sefton and Stonefields. His book Wild by Design won Illustrated Non-Fiction at the 2026 Indie Book Awards.
