R17 electric restomod x Ora Ïto is a one-off electric show car, the designer Ora Ïto's reworking of the Renault 17 coupe of 1971, developed with Renault's design team and unveiled in Paris in September 2024 before showing at Chantilly and the Paris Motor Show. The original monocoque, cabin, doors and glazing stay; the body is 17 centimetres wider, the carbon fibre chassis keeps the car to 1.4 tonnes, four rectangular headlamp modules replace the round lamps, the rear light is a single strip, the colour is a Galactic Brown mixed for this car alone, and a 270 horsepower electric drive sits at the rear. Renault says it "is a unique model and not the forerunner for a future production vehicle", and its chief designer for concept cars, Sandeep Bhambra, describes a creative dialogue that "maintains the body lines and spirit of the original R17 while giving it a minimalist, ultra-contemporary look."
The card is the third frame of the via post, two studio views stacked: the car from the front three-quarter above, its four lit headlamp modules glowing yellow and the small ora ïto script on the nose, and from the rear three-quarter below, the red light strip running the full width of the tail, both against a warm beige backdrop.

Renault is the carmaker, pioneering mobility since 1898 in its own words, and since 2021 it has asked a designer each year to rework one of its cars: Mathieu Lehanneur, Pierre Gonalons, Sabine Marcelis and now Ora Ïto.
Ora Ïto
Ora Ïto is a Paris designer whose breakthrough came in 1997, who created the MAMO art centre on the roof of Le Corbusier's Cité Radieuse in Marseille in 2013 and who calls his approach simplexity; Renault says this is his first joint project with it.
