Project Carlyle
Gold Coast
A renovation of a 1970s brick and tile house in Currumbin on the southern Gold Coast, for a family of four who moved up from Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. They had planned to knock the house down and rebuild, then changed course: much of the bedroom wing stayed, floor area went to the living and outdoor zones, a new main suite took the north-western corner, and a north-facing breezeway opened the plan, with the exterior wrapped in blackbutt shiplap. Design took about four months and construction ten, with building design by Brad Ruddell Design and interiors by Mosh Home, whose sister brand Mosh Joinery made the spotted gum joinery and the sunken lounge.
The pool and internal courtyard sit inside CAPO Landscapes' native planting, on a leafy stretch beside a nature reserve, and the terracotta through the house is Artedomus's Cotto Manetti tile, running into the sunken lounge. The caption pitches the look as California cool meeting Japanese minimalism and Australian bush modernism. Mosh publishes the project as Project Carlyle; The Design Files, which featured it in August 2025, calls it Carlyle Residence.

Mosh Home is an interior design studio in Currumbin on the Gold Coast, founded and directed by Libby Brady, with a sister brand, Mosh Joinery, making its joinery in Currumbin Waters.
