Oxfordshire
A country garden in Oxfordshire by Marcus Barnett Studio. The design answers the home's two characters: a rectilinear layout and large planting beds against the traditional building, organic sweeping planting against the contemporary parts. At its edges the garden runs out through massed ornamental grasses into wildflower meadow, in the studio's words bleeding out to the horizon.
Marcus Barnett Studio is a landscape architecture practice established in 2004, working from a west London studio and a rural satellite in Overton, Hampshire, and kept deliberately small at ten to twelve landscape architects and designers. It makes gardens for private clients, estates and hotels, pairing strong architectural form with naturalistic planting.
