Nissan Fairlady Z
This is a 1970 Nissan Fairlady Z, a first-year S30, restored inside and out by the racing driver Manabu Orido through his Yokohama shop MAX ORIDO and photographed on a Japanese street outside a glazed workshop. By every feature that can be checked, the deep green paint, the chrome bumpers, the eight-spoke Watanabe forged wheels and the script badge on the wing, it is the car Orido's shop showed at Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2023 as a car model for the production company autoage, under the exhibitor's own concept line: 「1970年式 フェアレディー Z初年度モデルを綺麗に外装、内装をレストア。古き車両との人生の楽しみ方を提案する一台。」, a first-year 1970 Fairlady Z with its body and interior cleanly restored, a car that proposes a way of enjoying life with an old machine. The body was stripped and repainted, the rubber renewed, the chrome front bumper replaced, the interior repaired, and underneath it runs on rebuilt Solex 44 carburettors, KYB dampers, Kameari lowering springs and a Fujitsubo manifold with twin exhausts, a two-litre L-series making 176 horsepower, on Watanabe wheels cast with the MAX ORIDO logo and Yokohama Advan tyres. It is Orido's own car, and he calls it simply his S30Z.
The card is the first frame of the post it was seen through: the green Z sits nose-on to the kerb, low on its dark-centred wheels with their red caps, chrome bumpers and a Yokohama plate, the Fairlady Z script on its wing, in front of a glazed workshop with a roller shutter above and motorcycles and a white car inside, with a Suntory BOSS coffee vending machine standing to the left of the opening.
MAX ORIDO
MAX ORIDO is the shop and brand of the racing driver Manabu Orido, based in Tsuzuki Ward in Yokohama, with aero and car parts, a garage, a rental studio, driving lessons, simulators and car sales; Orido has raced since 1990 and debuted in SUPER GT in 1996.
