Lacuna
Lacuna is a painting Liam Roberts traces to a trip to Italy in 2016: a fifty centimetre square acrylic on canvas from 2020, sold as a unique work. What hangs in the photograph is its limited edition print, and the room is a mock up; the seller has shown the same print composited into an entirely different interior.
It belongs to his 36 Series, an ongoing exploration inside a geometric grid of thirty six, each possible outcome tried until one emerges unique enough to join the series.
Liam Roberts
Liam Roberts is an artist and designer in Cheltenham, England, working across painting, wood relief and print in hard edged geometric form. He studied graphic design at the University of the West of England, graduating in 2011, and works alongside the studio practice as a design director in branding and publishing.
