JURO Bar Stool with Backrest

The JURO Bar Stool with Backrest is a solid European oak stool by the Lausanne designer Tomáš Král for the Slovak maker Javorina. The collection takes its name and its shape from the rounded hat of Juraj Jánošík, the Slovak folk hero: the idea lives in the big radius of the massive seat board and in the way the legs join into it. Král drew the collection in 2018.

In 2024 the JURO collection won a BIG SEE Product Design Award in home and living. Javorina has worked in solid oak since 1947 and sells the stool today through BEOAK, the export brand it launched in 2025. The photograph is the maker's own gallery image.

Tomáš Král

Tomáš Král is a Slovak born product designer in Lausanne, trained at ECAL, where he now teaches; he established his studio in 2008 and took the Swiss Federal Design Award in 2010. Javorina, the maker, is a Slovak cooperative working in solid oak since 1947, selling in western Europe since 2025 under its export brand BEOAK.
