ISANA EASY CHAIR

The ISANA EASY CHAIR is a made to order piece by the Niigata workshop ISANA, a one seater sofa to sit in at ease, in the words of the maker. The frame is North American black cherry with brass fittings, the arms are shaped from the solid, and the upholstery is two tone in the workshop's own standard fabric: charcoal on the back, sand beige on the seat, a colour that reads pale grey in the light of this photograph.

ISANA

ISANA is a furniture and textile workshop in Niigata City, Japan, begun in 2011 and run by Masayuki Nakagawa, who designs and makes the furniture and heads its DIY school, and Nagisa Nakagawa, who designs and dyes the textiles and keeps the cafe. The cafe and shop sit in the Nuttari Terrace shopping street in Chuo Ward; the factory and showroom are out in Akiha Ward.
