incomplete true

incomplete true is a small oil painting by the German artist Mitch, a cat caught half in a shaft of light. The diagonal band on the floor is the same shaft continuing; the dark shape beside the cat is its shadow, and so is the cat shaped notch bitten out of the light on the wall. The lower case title is his own, and Saatchi Gallery dated the painting 2021 when it shared it.

It is an original oil on canvasboard, 30 by 24 centimetres, signed on the back, and as at August 2026 it is still listed on his own shop at 19,500 euros.

Mitch

Mitch, posting as @itsallinsideus, is a German artist based at Dietersburg in Bavaria. The black cat is his recurring figure, set in shadow heavy scenes that one profile described as carrying a sense of suspended danger, with protagonists who spend their time peering into reflective surfaces or, in Elephant magazine's words, weeping silent rivers of tears.
