Garden Guesthouse
Gothenburg, Sweden
A 30 square metre guesthouse in Gothenburg from 2023, built as an attefallshus, the small Swedish building type allowed on a home's land without a full building permit. It stands at the outer edge of the plot on purpose, framing the garden between the main house and the rock and turning the lawn into a room; in summer it doubles as a garden pavilion and a studio.
The bedroom faces south, the kitchen and living room turn east and north, and a loft waits up a ladder. Outside it is untreated heartwood pine, nailed with stainless ring shank nails with domed heads, under a zinc roof with oak windows; inside the palette repeats, pine floors and a pine kitchen topped in oak. The architects photographed it themselves.
