Empty Streets CXXIII is one of a series Miguel Ulmann has numbered past a hundred, acrylic on cotton paper, 46 by 58 centimetres, since sold. A much smaller sibling, Empty Streets P2 from 2021, has passed through a UK auction room.
Miguel Ulmann is a painter based in Lisbon whose hard edged, single colour shapes move between flat abstraction and illusionistic geometry, inspired by maps and urban landscapes. His website keeps no titles, so his Instagram captions carry the names of his works.
