Brunswick West
A weatherboard California bungalow in Brunswick West, Melbourne, renovated and extended to a design by the building designer DOOD Studio, built over ten months by Jobe Homes and finished in 2024. The house was essentially gutted, keeping the facade and basic structure: every internal wall moved, the period skirtings, architraves and cornices of the front rooms were recreated, and a new extension took the open plan kitchen, dining and living space that spills onto the backyard deck. DOOD publishes the project as Daly; the builder calls it Daly House.
The deck runs between a curved glazed rear wall, the focal point of the new build, and a white painted brick drum, with the pool, an outdoor kitchen, shower, sauna and bathroom worked into the converted garage, and landscape design by Miniscape Projects. The red steel chairs are HAY's Palissade setting. The owners are Stephanie and Matthew Crosara, who briefed the house around entertaining, and The Design Files published it in August 2025.
