Courtyard House Curl Curl

Curl Curl, Sydney

The house is a C shape wrapped around a central garden and pool: parents' rooms in one wing, children's in the other, a connecting bridge between them, and a double-height kitchen and dining room as the hub. It was finished in 2024 at Curl Curl, on Sydney's Northern Beaches, for a couple with young children.

Outside, the whole house wears a second skin of perforated fibre cement screens that fold open or closed with the sun, the seasons and the coastal weather. The architects have since renamed it Casa C, and under that name it took Gold at the Sydney Design Awards in 2025.
