Collector's Nook

Franca, Brazil

The occupant is invented: mf+arquitetos built this room for CASACOR Franca 2017 around the figure of a collector, and furnished all 130 square metres of it for that imagined life. In the practice's words the character "immortalizes memories through art, photography and design"; their own name for the set is recanto do colecionador.

It is one open room, the bed and a freestanding bath sharing it. The same dark, white-veined marble runs on across the kitchen and bathroom walls, the front of the set is timber screens throwing geometric patterns of light inside, and a planted green wall closes the back.

mf+arquitetos

mf+arquitetos is the practice of Mariana Garcia Oliveira and Filipi Oliveira, architects who met in their first year of study, graduated in 2009 and married; they founded the office as MF architects and gave it its current name in 2015. It works from Franca, in the interior of São Paulo, across houses, commercial work and interiors.
