Cadeira Clad

The Cadeira Clad is a solid timber dining chair by the Brazilian designer Jader Almeida, its line drawn from Cycladic art. The project began in April 2014 after the Greek architect Stelios Kois, having seen the Sollos space in Milan, proposed a compact chair for a Cycladic art museum context in Athens; the wood is milled by machine and finished by hand.

The armed version pictured is the Cadeira Clad Com Braço of 2015, 54 by 56.5 by 79 centimetres. That year it took an honourable mention in the furniture section of the 29th Premio Design Museu da Casa Brasileira, whose jury singled out the deliberately exposed junctions between arm, seat and back. The chair is designed in Florianopolis and made by Sollos; the picture comes from Italica Casa, a furniture shop in Recife that carries Almeida's work.

Jader Almeida

Jader Almeida is a Brazilian designer, born in Santa Catarina, who started in design at sixteen and has run his line for more than two decades. The JADERALMEIDA brand is manufactured by Sollos, a furniture maker at Princesa in Santa Catarina that has built its business around design since 2004, with showrooms across Brazil and in the United States.
