Bornholm
Bornholm, Denmark
Bornholm is Vermland's name for a newly built summer house on the northern coast of the Danish island of Bornholm, set between granite outcrops, windswept pines and the open Baltic, for which it made the kitchen and the bathroom furniture. The house is built of timber over polished concrete floors, with large sliding doors onto timber terraces facing the sea, and Vermland says of it that "Rather than competing with the dramatic landscape of Bornholm, the architecture is designed to frame it." The words over the photograph are Vermland's own overlay, its title for the house and its line about the architecture.
The kitchen is bespoke, in natural oiled oak, with an island that carries open shelving for everyday ceramics, a splashback of handcrafted Marokk tiles under a slim Vermland shelf, and fully integrated Gaggenau appliances; Vermland calls it "the home's social heart". The bathroom pairs the company's VOLII furniture, also in oiled oak, with a solid natural stone sink and a wall-mounted tap from TONI.
Vermland
Vermland is a Copenhagen kitchen maker founded by the cabinetmakers Joakim Tolf Vulpius and Anton Bak and registered as a company in 2016; its kitchens are made in Denmark and delivered worldwide.
