Groningen
A Tapestry of Urban Greenery is the name Stefano Marinaz gave a long narrow rear garden in Groningen, roughly 20 by 6 metres, a renovation of a plot that before was paved edge to edge.
Three multistem amelanchiers anchor a planting of grasses and perennials with a small wildlife pond in the garden's first third, and the central play space sits wrapped in the planting rather than fenced off from it. The garden was made for a private client, Marianne, whose own hand the designer credits in his caption for guiding the planting to maturity. The photograph is Alister Thorpe's.
